Now, Barefoot Sound takes its acclaimed monitoring technology to the next level with the Footprint02 Gen2. Re-engineered from the ground up to deliver even more power, accuracy, and transparency, the next-generation Footprint02 Gen2 raises the technical and sonic performance bar for compact active studio monitors once again with a state-of-the-art 3-way tri-amplified design that optimizes headroom, efficiency, coherence, and overall performance across an extended frequency range for a monitoring experience like no other.

3-way tri-amped architecture for power and precision

Packing large-scale Barefoot Sound quality into a pair of compact active studio monitors, the Footprint02 Gen2 houses completely redesigned custom drivers with high magnetic flux motors engineered for extended linear excursion, vanishingly low distortion, and lightning-fast transient response. While its predecessor was a 2-way design, the second generation features a full 3-way architecture with meticulously tuned crossover points at 180Hz and 3.7kHz, and each driver has its own powerful, dedicated Class D amplifier. Fortified by the abundant tri-amplified power on tap, the Footprint02 Gen2 renders today’s high dynamic range recordings with an effortlessness typically heard only from world-class large-format main monitors. 

Re-engineered drivers deliver world-class performance

Given a brawny 200 watts to play with, two side-firing 6.5-inch woofers are each mounted in a rugged cast aluminum frame and integrated into the cabinet using Barefoot’s Dual-Force coupling, which cancels internal vibration and functions as a structural brace, reinforcing cabinet rigidity and helping to deliver clean, deep low-frequency response. A generous 150 watts drives the 5-inch aluminum midrange cone to provide uncompromising accuracy over this critical frequency range. On the receiving end of 60 watts is a 1-inch dual-ring high-frequency radiator, which dispenses smooth, unhyped coverage up to an impressive 40kHz. For superior performance, the midrange driver and tweeter have been redesigned with new precision-extruded aluminum housings, rear waveguide chambers, stronger magnets, and improved thermal handling.

Unparalleled accuracy for mixes that translate

The Footprint02 Gen2’s newly designed DSP platform incorporates SPOC (Spectrally Optimized Conversion), Barefoot’s proprietary technology that introduces analog crossover filtration prior to digital conversion. By allowing the HF signal to enter the DSP unattenuated, this process preserves high-frequency detail and substantially improves signal-to-noise ratio, while providing greater digital resolution, improved transient response, and reduced latency. Consequently, the Gen2 platform is able to deliver higher resolution, enhanced clarity, and ultra-low latency, resulting in unparalleled monitoring accuracy over a spacious soundstage with stunning depth, pinpoint imaging, and massive punch. Monitoring on the Footprint02 Gen2, you’ll also find it easier to place vocals and solo instruments in a mix and achieve an ideal balance that translates to the world outside your studio. 

Loaded with MEME technology

With the Footprint02 Gen2, you'll never need a secondary set of reference monitors. Barefoot Sound's MEME (Multi Emphasis Monitor Emulation) technology enables you to audition your mixes through spot-on models of common reference sources, such as popular consumer playback systems, modded NS10s, or classic mix cubes. Thanks to MEME technology, you'll no longer have to wrestle with a cluttered workspace, external power amplifiers, or vintage speakers with hard-to-find replacement parts to get a tried-and-true set of alternate reference monitors.
