MXL - V87 Low-Noise Condenser Microphone
MXL V87 Low-Noise Condenser Microphone
Large-diaphgragm FET Condenser Microphone with 1" Capsule and 20Hz-20kHz Frequency Response
The U87 is as everyone knows, a classic for genuine reason and the V87 is no slouch! It's so close it's very hard to tell against our 80's U87. (video coming soon). It also ships with a fantastic hardware package with shock mount & a vintage metal mesh pop shield.
How do they do it? Well they have dropped Omni and Fig 8 from the V87 and they use electronics to create the signature sound of the U87.
MXL truly know what they are doing and this is a great example. If you want that classic vintage german microphone sound here is a great way to get it on a budget.
From MXL:
The MXL V87 is a large diaphragm, low noise FET condenser microphone that absolutely shines in the mid to upper range registers. With an outstanding mix of smoothness and clarity, coupled with a low proximity effect, the V87 is perfectly suited for up-close vocal recordings. It's low-noise, transformer less output also make it an excellent choice for detailed stringed instruments and piano recordings. V87's sound quality and solid construction make this a valuable addition to your microphone collection.
